Goddaughter Blues
Working as an independent White private investigator was not exactly a dream job in our post-famine society. If not for my contacts in the Concave, I might have given up and gone into the street cleaning business on my hands and knees. It took some hard work to build those contacts and a reputation for solving Concave-based kidnappings, one far better than any of the big real-world agencies could claim. That is why Beth's mother, Dana, came to me with a claim her daughter had been kidnapped. I figured it was just another runaway after their bi-nightly argument. They had been doing that since Beth's father, one of my military family, had died. At times, I had trouble knowing if becoming Beth's godfather had been a blessing or a curse. Luckily, I loved Beth. Because this time, having Beth as my goddaughter leaned way past being a curse. Books By C.T. Heinlein: The Evil of the Witch Rose Enigma of the Witch Rose The Essence of the Witch Rose PI Blues
