I'm Home, Mama!
Hy Gorman returned to Fairbanks with a law degree in hand, hoping his half-Alaska Native and half-Jewish roots would give him a leg up on the competition. He hadn't been there since he was a kid, but warm memories of Mom 'n' apple pie, so to speak, drew him back.
Hy's instincts were spot-on. He connected with the small local Jewish community, making friends and setting up a law practice that had the potential to thrive.
The future held myriad possibilities for Hy-success, love, family, all the wonderful things that can make life worth living. But...first things first. And boy, was his first client a doozy!
Would success in this case lead to other more lucrative ones? Or would failure send him scurrying back to small-town New York with his tail between his legs? Worse, and more importantly, would it send his client and her children right back into the hands of her wealthy, abusive husband?
