Poems of a Lost Soul
Many people say music is their escape. Well, for me, my truest escape was poetry. It was my only release from the cage I was placed in at seventeen. Most seventeen-year-olds are chasing females or preparing for the big game. I was preparing for prison. Now, in no way is this something to brag about, but it’s a fact. While stuck in a cell with nothing inside of me but anger, pain, loss, and betrayal, I needed a release. It came in the form of writing. By writing, I wrote my story. It's of my successes and failures—some that could have been avoided and others that couldn’t. But that’s life. You live and you learn.
My writing gave me peace and made me sane in a place of insanity. Now, you may be wondering why you should read this book. Well, if you were ever dealt a bad hand or ever dealt yourself one, I believe you'll honestly be able to feel my heart beating through these pages. These pages tell the story of someone who can relate to you. You just have to find out how. The title Poems of a Lost Soul is not just a book title, but also a state of indecisiveness that I have lived in for a long time . To me, it stands for someone standing at a crossroads, trying to decide which way to go. Which way will determine who I truly believe I am and not who others believe me to be. I dare you to find release in these pages. I am you and you are me.
