Simon of Cyrene
Simon, a child of a black slave, is born on the same night as the son of his Jewish master. Both boys grow up together, but live very different lives. Although Simon becomes a proselyte to the Jewish faith, he is betrayed and forced to fight in the arena as a gladiator. Eventually, all the events of his life lead him to one point in time. While attending the feast of the Passover, he is forced to carry a criminal’s cross, and yet he meets the one he has heard called Jesus of Nazareth. The Messiah of the world is now to be nailed and hung as a criminal.
