The Sulak Family
MY NAME IS SANDRA SULAK, and this is my story about a simple family of four living in the rich, black soil farmland of the Texas coastal plains in a tiny town called Louise, situated right off U.S. Highway 59 in Texas, about eighty miles south of Houston.Highway 59 begins in Mexico, cuts straight north through the Texas Rio Grande Valley, dissects Houston, and continues north all the way to northern Canada, dotted along the way with small towns, huge cities, farmland, and industrial megaplexes. Our particular part of this major highway is unique in that, as the story goes, therailroad developer who created the towns along the highway named them after his daughters. Hence, we have the towns of Victoria, Inez, Edna, and Louise within a fifty-mile section of the highway.
