What is an eBook?
The word “eBook” is an electronic book, a digital book format. In this format, books can be read on various electronic devices like computers, portable eReaders (like a Kindle), tablets (like an iPad), and mobile phones.
What are the eBook formats?
EPUB
Short for electronic publication, EPUB was established by the International Digital Publishing Forum. It is the most widely supported eBook format and is compatible with Nook, Kobo, and Google Play Books. Your readers can choose between a fixed layout or adjusting the text so the book will automatically reflow for different screen sizes.
MOBI
The MOBI format was specifically designed for mobile and eReader devices. The file sizes are smaller and support bookmarks and notes. Amazon Kindle’s proprietary format is based on MOBI.
PDF
PDF stands for “Portable Document Format” and is the OG of eBook formats. It was developed by Adobe and is best viewed on desktops and laptops with Adobe Reader.
What is an ISBN?
ISBN stands for International Standard Book Number. It is used by everyone in the book business, like publishers, booksellers, libraries, internet retailers, and distributors, to track your book and purchase it. Learn more about what ISBNs are and why you need one here.
Is there a charge for the ISBN?
It is included in your publishing package.
Will I have separate ISBNs for my chosen formats?
Yes, there are separate ISBNs for eBooks and printed books. Amazon does not require, nor do we assign, an ISBN for audiobooks. They assign an ASIN or Amazon Standard Identification Number.
Will I get physical copies of my book?
Yes. We will send you copies of your book for your private use and distribution to friends and family. Additional copies can be ordered by emailing support@pagepublishing.com.
